This table contains figures on the European harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) for the Netherlands. The HICP measures changes in the prices of goods and services purchased by consumers on Dutch territory for their own consumption. The HICP is calculated on the basis of internationally agreed definitions and methods and allows for the comparison of price changes between various European countries. The table provides information on the contribution and impact of the expenditure categories. The annual rate of change and weighting coefficient are also shown.

The contribution shows the share of the price change for each individual expenditure category in the annual rate of change of the total HICP. For each classification level, the contributions of the individual categories add up to the total annual rate of change. The impact provides an answer to the question of how much higher or lower the annual rate of change in the total HICP would be if a particular category were excluded.

HICP figures are published every month. After the end of each calendar year, annual figures are also released. The index figure for a given calendar year is calculated as the average of the indices for the twelve months in that year.

Data available from: January 2016.

Status of the figures: The figures shown in this table are, in most of the cases, final at the time of publication. HICP results are only defined as provisional if - at the time of publication - it is known that the data is not yet complete or will be updated in the next month. In this case, the figures will become final one month later.

Changes compared to the previous version include: Data for a new period has been added and/or adjustments have been made.

When will new figures be published? The new figures are usually published between the first and second Thursday of the month following the reporting month.

All CPI and HICP publication dates are shown in the publication calendar (see paragraph 3).
